报告摘要

  Sulfates are key components in geochemical and planetary processes, and their behavior under extreme conditions is of growing interest in both Earth and material sciences. They are widely distributed in the Earth's crust and surface environments, and are also suspected to play roles in deep Earth and extraterrestrial settings.

  To establish robust models for the structure-property relationships of sulfates, it is crucial to investigate their stability and structural transformations under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. Recent experimental studies using diamond anvil cells and in situ spectroscopy have revealed the formation of novel sulfate phases with unexpected coordination environments. In this presentation, I will discuss the synthesis, structural evolution, and potential implications of these newly discovered high-pressure sulfate phases for deep Earth geochemistry and planetary science.

嘉宾简介

  Dr. Yu Wang is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Geoscience, Goethe University Frankfurt. She received her PhD in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China, where her research focused on gas hydrates under extreme conditions. After postdoctoral work on high-pressure polynitride materials at the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, she joined the Goethe University to investigate transition metal carbonates.

  Her research combines high-pressure experimental techniques—such as diamond anvil cell synthesis and synchrotron X-ray diffraction—with spectroscopic and structural analysis to explore the phase behavior and physical properties of complex materials under deep Earth and planetary conditions.
